Booster Club Meeting Recap

Here’s a recap of the Booster Club meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 2.

The following fundraisers were set:
Olenjack’s – THIS Monday, Nov. 7 - Olenjack’s will be giving us 10% of their sales for the day (lunch and dinner). This has been advertised through a North Arlington neighborhood email newsletter and through the PTA email blast. The coaches and some of the girls will be there from 6-8 pm to hand out schedules and greet people. Stop by if you want and let your friends know!
Cowboys Stadium – Nov. 6 and 13. We may add one or two more dates if possible. (We work the parking lot for 5-6 hour shift before events at the stadium and receive $10/hour for each person who works)
Candles Sales – The girls will be selling candles from Nov. 21-Dec. 2 (just in time for Christmas gifts!) More information will be coming about this fundraiser.
Shoot-a-Thon has been moved to Jan. 21.

The scholarship guidelines were amended as follows:

The Booster Club may award graduating seniors with a scholarship in the amount of up to $125 per year played at Lamar, with $500 being the maximum awarded. The Booster Club may award graduating Team Managers with a scholarship in the amount of up to $75 per year, with $300 being the maximum awarded. The Officers will vote on any extenuating circumstances relating to the number of years awarded. In addition graduating seniors’ parents must be current paying members of the Booster Club; at least at the minimum support level. The funds for an awarded scholarship will be held for one (1) year. Any unclaimed scholarship money will be returned to the general fund after one (1) year and will no longer be available for that scholarship.

Also, guidelines were established for Team Representatives:

It shall be the duty of the Freshman Representatives (A and B), JV Representative, and Varsity Representative to maintain communication with all team players and their parents, to involve parents and assist in Booster Club activities (concessions, fundraisers, banquets, etc.)

There is a team representative for Varsity but someone is still needed for JV and Freshman.

Greetings Players, Parents and Fans,

October has arrived! I am eagerly anticipating the first practice of the season on Wednesday, October 19. Earlier this week, players in the JV and Varsity class period participated in the Haltom Cross Country Meet. It was quite a sight to see the basketball team participating with the cross country team and we had two players place in the top 20. Coming up on the weekend of October 8, ten players will participate in the Duncanville Pre-season Showcase.
Expectations are high on all levels following the success of last season. Players are competing and working hard on the court and in the weight room. We have set goals of returning to the playoffs, and improving our record of 24-11 from last season. These goals are reiterated daily and the teams are preparing to meet this challenge. Academically, we have set goals for the A and B Honor Rolls as well. The excitement of basketball season is in the air!  I'm looking forward to seeing all of you fill the stands in November.

                                                        Thanks for your continued support,

                                                        Coach Levels
